See the airspace around your flight area at a glance. Air-Chirp overlays FAA awareness data — controlled airspace, TFRs, airports, heliports, and UAS facility maps — directly on the live drone map.
Awareness Layers Available on the Map
Toggle layers on and off to see the airspace context around your planned or active flight area. Each layer is drawn directly on the interactive map, so you can visually assess what is nearby.
Controlled Airspace
Class B, C, D, and E airspace boundaries shown as colored overlays, so you can see whether your flight area intersects controlled airspace where authorization may be required.
Temporary Flight Restrictions
Active TFRs displayed on the map, including standing security TFRs and NOTAM-based restrictions. TFRs can change at any time — always verify with official sources.
Airports & Heliports
Nearby airports and heliports are marked on the map, so you can be aware of manned aviation traffic patterns and approach corridors in your area.
UAS Facility Maps
FAA UAS Facility Map (UASFM) data showing maximum altitudes for UAS operations in grid cells, helping you understand altitude limits in your area.
Special Use Airspace
Restricted and prohibited areas (SUA) are displayed, so you can see military and special-use airspace near your planned operating area.
Parks & Land Use
National and state park boundaries are shown as a land-use awareness layer. Park drone rules vary — always check local regulations before flying in or near parks.
How to Use Airspace Awareness
1. Open the live map
Launch Air-Chirp and the map loads centered on your location. The awareness layer toggles are accessible from the map interface.
2. Toggle layers on
Enable the airspace layers you want to see — controlled airspace, TFRs, airports, heliports, UASFM, SUA, and parks. Layers can be combined to build a complete picture.
3. Visually assess your area
Pan and zoom to see whether your planned flight area intersects any awareness layer. The overlays use distinct colors so you can quickly identify what is nearby.
4. Share your operating area
When you start a flight, you can publish your operating area to the map so other nearby pilots can see where you are flying. Learn about coordinating around events →
Awareness Is Not Authorization
Important Limitations
Air-Chirp's airspace layers are for situational awareness only. They do not constitute FAA authorization, do not replace LAANC, and may not reflect the most current FAA data. Always verify airspace status and obtain required authorizations through official FAA channels before flying. The absence of a visible restriction on the map does not mean flight is permitted.
